10 Lottery Stocks Under $10

December 06, 2010 – Comments (2) | RELATED TICKERS: INFN , GMXRQ.DL , ARIA

Unlike any of my other screens, this screen focuses on stocks trading under $10/share, and have a market cap of around $1 billion or less. As for the variables that I used in the screen, I focused on fundamentals, particularly companies that have a healthy balance sheet with little debt to speak of, with a strong prospect for rapid sales and growth in earnings, as well.

Now be aware, that these kinds of stocks carry huge risks to them. A simple downgrade, news event, or missed earnings target, can derail these small-cap stocks in a heart beat. But if you have some capital that you want to roll the dice with, these stocks will give you a good start in your research.

The stocks that I like the best from a technical perspective include Infinera Corp (INFN) which is currently breaking out, GMX Resources (GMXR) which is also trying to do the same, followed finally by Ariad Pharmaceuticals (ARIA) which could likewise breakout in the days ahead.

Here are my $10 Lottery Specials.

Thanks for the ideas and the preliminary legwork on these.  Because you are recommending, I will take a look and probably experiment with at least one - but it will be strictly money that I can afford to lose - and money that I expect to lose.  No other position going in seems even remotely sane.

You realize, of course, that anyone who is not familiar with your blogs will jump right in to grouse about penny stocks and how terrible they are.  You have characterized them (properly) as a gamble, a "roll of the dice" and offered a start on due diligence (huge risk... A simple downgrade, news event, or missed earnings target, can derail these small-cap stocks in a heart beat.)

What more can you do?  +1 with appreciation

(Disclosure - bought RT at $2 and sold at $8, but only because I was located close enough to the headquarters to watch what they were doing to remake themselves.  I should have bought in at 91 cents.)

A question, have you run Ariad by Porte?  He is very good with Biotechs.
