The Los Angeles Unified school board is expected to vote on a two-year budget plan today that calls for the elimination of more than 5,000 district positions unless employee unions agree to furloughs and pay cuts.

The layoffs could be avoided if all district employees were to take an 11.75 percent pay cut, which could come in the form of furloughs or other cuts.

Last week Alstry called a bottom on the dollar.............since the dollar is going up..........in certain areas of Alstry's life he is amazing......but that is really private between Alstry and his wife.

The only prediction Alstry made was Altstry was bullish on the dollar and bullish on America......no representation was made about the economy or the stock market.

My CAPS picks speak for themselves.

you have monumentally failed in the "timing" of every call, except your last dollar call and still have NO basis for making a LT call on the strength of the dollar.. IT IS EVIDENT how little you know in that department

my beef with you alstry is , well frankly, you are so full of yourself that you can't see what harm you have caused people on this site...While you have been SPOT ON documenting the details of the bad news on many fronts in our economy and abroad..you have been DISMAL at making timely calls that would help anyone on here prepare for the ST or even LT...

I have to admit.....I did miss how low they would take the dollar.....clearly a material mistake when applying it to the market in nominal terms.

Ecnomically....our nation is heading to a place it has never been before.....but so did the Starship Enterprise........as I have said over and over, it is not the end of the world, simply the end of a world as you know it.

And the new world will be very exciting.....just the process getting there will be very convulsive.
