At this point....without restructuring debt, it seems that War is the likliest way out of our mess.  Basically, with so much toxic debt infecting our economy, and much of the world's economy, and fewer and fewer able to service debt because banks cutting off credit......clearly war is the most logical choice.

Based on a little birdie and 11.10.9 Feeling.....we should hear about a massive American troop build up over the next few weeks in the Af/Pak region.  What better way to show you are the Peace President than send a massive amount of soldiers to keep the peace?

In addition, based on a few appears things may be heating up...again... between the Israelis and Hizbullah in Lebanon.....such a flare up would be a convenient segway to spread such conflict into a broader regional conflict including Iran.

The problem with engaging Iran is Russia and China have mutual diplomatic and economic ties with the Persian government.  But what the heck, if we are going to go to war....let's do it BIG.  What better way to destroy a bunch of outdated infastructure and set a clean foundation for future growth?

At this point, based on evaporating revenues to our most important corporations....and massive distress to our small and midsize businesses that employ many of our citizens, it appears now is time to restructure.....

Government is running out of money, pensions are running out of money, businesses are running out of money, and families are running out money.....the FDIC is broke, so is FHA, and Pension Guaranty.......if the banks are not lending, what other choice do we have????  Go Hungry because the bankers cut us off???

If we keep printing to keep this charade going...Oil might hit $1000 per barrel and that would simply be unacceptable.

If we do increase the troop build up in the next few think there there might be a reconsideration???

What would people say if the areas you listed had peace. Saying war is coming to the middle east is like saying the sun will rise in the morning. Nobody cares being its been a war zone longer than many areas have even been a country. Russia and China are against us but in the markets and wouldn't dream of having a military conflict with the U.S. Just look at Taiwan and the much of the former USSR states besides gerogia. It was instigating much of the mess beofore Russia appeared and spanked them straight. Russia, China are really the only threats against the U.S. that could be very deadly. Otherwise our main threats come from small unkown groups all around the world. Plus even an insane person wouldn't want to see a world war 3. It takes years to prepaire for a large scale war and the U.S. military is not prepaired for anything like a world war. We burn through our missles, bullets, vehicles and must wait for for more to be made. It would almost be laughable to see the U.S. angage in a large scale war. Our military just couldn't handle it as is. We are more prepairing for puddle jumping missions chasing our pajama wearing enemy through the montains. I would go buy a lottery ticket, I think you would have better luck.

At this point...I simply don't see many options.  Debt is suffocating our economy to the point where few have much if any profits.  PE on the S&P is 140.  Corporate tax receipts have evaporated and now we are laying off or cutting the wage of tens of millions.

Our economy is simply shutting down but for the MASSIVE deficit government is operating under.  If you factor welfare recipients and social security, over half the nation now depnends on government spending for income.

WIth income and revenues to the private sector evaporating......we simply have to restructure our economy.

The dollar is collapsing, oil skyrocketing and deficits exploding against evaporating tax long do you think we can remain a welfare state without the world cutting us off?

Pretty soon, they are going to force us to change our way or nation can simply print money to feed its poor....otherwise the world would print and money would have no value.

You are correct. Don't try to time these events!
It always takes longer then you think.

Yes, I know he is a leftie. But at least he apparently has a great sense of humor. That is something the rest of them are sorely lacking. I'm the male Garbo. I vant to be left alone!

Because you are intelligent, you miss the obvious.  When the population of a country has no clear picture of the future, even one as basic as them waking up, eating a bowl of cereal, commuting to work, working, coming home to watch the game and have a beer, do what you please with the old lady then a nice easy sleep, when even this simple life is brought into doubt, you get war.  Just not the one you describe.

The one you describe is this stereotype against that stereotype, the one you miss is you against me, or me against you.

I don't worry much about war abroad and I cannot imagine Russia or China attacking us on our own soil.  But civil war?  It seems impossible, but with armed militia (gangs) already widely available and motive to punish those who have benefitted from our grief abundant, the truth is that door to door civil war will be virtually impossible to stop unless we wad up the constitution and bring about order by whatever means possible.

One day into a civil war and our jails will explode, our courtrooms will be beyond overwhelmed, lawyers will make fantastic amounts of money ( so much so that it might be in their best interest to manufacture the origins of such a thing - you say impossible?  Look at the bankers and what they did to us ) The police won't know who to shoot, or if they're even allowed to shoot.  Our freedom could lead to the worst imaginable anarchy, one which can't be stopped because putting a stop to it would be unconstitutional.

Ignorant people don't understand high finance, they just know they are unemployed and hungry.  Heaven help us if they organize, mobilize...
