Maybe it is just me, but I am noticing more and more articles about 3D in the mainstream media. Just the other day on "Big Bang Theory" where Raj and Howard bought a 3D printer and used a 3D scanner to make dolls of themselves: http://www.3dprinter.net/3d-printing-on-the-big-bang-theory
Then just today on Facebook I saw two posts about Micro 3D printing as well as a company printing stem cells to make organic matter.

There is an awareness starting to happen and it will drive the advancement of the technology faster. Public interest means more money which leads to technology being delivered. This is what causes the hockey-stick growth of a market. There are way too many useful applications for this technology, and the abilities in the technology are advancing at break neck speed!
