5 Oil Stocks to Watch

May 25, 2011 – Comments (2) | RELATED TICKERS: BP , COP , CVX

Its been a few days since we have posted an article about great stock picks, so here you are investors! Here are 5 oil stocks that are great picks for a variety of different reasons. Brian Wilson has given us all the details about these stocks, and some great research that we support.

BP plc

YTD: – 3.6%

Against XLE (the SPDR Energy ETF): – 12%

BP is still losing money from the oil spill, but bulls argue that it’s trading on a very cheap fundamental basis relative to its projected earnings. The number is about 7.4 or so for its forward P/E according to the S&P report, but analysts have been known to be a bit optimistic on companies in distress. Still, dividend seekers shouldn’t mind the current yield of 3.9%. It’s hard to say it’s the best buy however, as the company is focusing on simultaneously pulling itself out of 27.5 billion dollars of debt, slowly repairing its reputation, and competing with other oil giants in R&D and exploration."

You are pitching oil stocks when oil is up over $100 again.  You should have bought the oil stocks when oil dipped to $97 like I did.  I am up over 10% on all of my stocks in a few weeks.

We cetainly took advantage of the dips but believe that oil is headed for $150 and these stocks are going to see similar moves.
