9.09 Democracy or Depression

August 30, 2009 – Comments (20)

In 9.09 America will learn it will have to choose between Demorcracy and Depression.  Americans will learn that you can't have freedom and a free lunch.....or prosperity and a ponzi economy...for long.

What I am not sure yet is whether the decision will be shoved down our collective throats or will we get a choice.

Right now we have a stock market where trading is dominated by worthless stocks...but few want to believe.  We have an economy where 50% of a bubble GDP is government spending and half of government spending is simply borrowing and printing money.  We have 100,000,000 million Americans dependent on the government for income but as a nation we no longer have the income to support them.

Many of our largest publicly traded companies, like Dell, WalMart, and our drug companies generate much of the sales simply due to government spending money it doesn't have....back in The Great Depresssion Government consumed only 10% of our GDP....today it consumes over 50%.....and that is 50% of a credit bubble GDP.

Now our private economy is evaporating because the banks are cutting off credit to citizens and private business.  Millions of people have been fired, tens of millions have suffered massive wage cuts, and bankruptcies are rising parabolically.

Many Americans can't see this because the media doesn't report it.  In addition, the stats don't pick up the tremendous distress falling upon our small businesses and independent contractors.  Millions of our citizens have seen their incomes evaporate, but because they work for themselves few really care to count them.

Soon you will learn that we can't have both....government spending like a drunken sailor and only paying a fraction of our income for taxes.  In order for government to spend at current levels, government will be forced to tax us 100% of our current incomes...government will have to take control of more and more of the assets of the nation in order to continue to function at the current level.

Once that happens, the rights of Americans will be emasculated.......unless government starts spending less....a lot less.  If that happens, America will be driven into the deepest depression in our nations history.

Not the end of the world....simply MOAP.....The Mother of All Ponzi Schemes....you simply can't keep growing and growing by borrowing and borrowing without one day paying the price.  In the past few years, we borrowed like never before.....now the bankers want to be paid back.... they knew this would happen...they made money betting we would default with credit default swaps.

Starting in September, we will see lots of firsts...like the following:

California is on the brink of another American first, this one rather dubious: In a week or two, officials say they will start shutting down 100 state parks, an exercise in government retrenchment unprecedented for a citizenry that cherishes the outdoors.

http://www.sacbee.com/topstories/story/2148096.html

MOAP is not the end of the world, as many of the Alstrybaters would like you to believe.  We are simply out of money.  We can't keep going on lying about the finanicial condition of our banks and spending money that doesn't exist without consequences.  Right now the consequences are being felt all over the place.....Alstry has posted thousands of links of supporting evidence.

Keep enjoying a stock market dominated by worthless companies, but that is no way to build a durable future for our children.  Sure you are being told that we are turning around, but that is only because government is spending money it doesn't have.  Enjoy your welfare checks from counterfeit money as it flows in.....but thre will be a price to pay.

Could you imagine the stimulous to the economy if we simply gave every unemployed person a check for $10,000,000 and forced them to spend it?  Keep dreaming folks, it is fun while it lasts.

The bankers we bailed out will soon want to be paid but we don't have the money to pay them.  We can either pay the price of freedom or pay them with everything we own......they only real question now is whether we will have any say in the matter as the Zombulator continues to shut down our nation yet so many remain so indifferent.

Rheem Manufacturing in Fort Smith Plant - 43 Layoffs

City of Anchorage - Layoffs Official

Zales Corporation closed 118 Stores in Q4

Bashas to close 14 stores

Publix to close 5 Supermarkets

2 Natuzzi Stores to close in Texas

3 Kmart Stores to close in November

Kmart at South Point closing

Kmart in Venice Florida

Kmart Store in Fort Smith

Kmart in Tarpon Springs Florida

The above is just a small sample of what is going on obtained from http://www.dailyjobcuts.com/

Commercial Real Estate is being obliterated.  We are losing millions of small business/indepdendent contractor taxpayers that are not being counted including lawyers, architects, real estate sales people, construction workers, and consultants.

These are individuals and entities that paid a big chunk of taxes...each time one of them economically expires, so does our nations tax base as few are finding replacement work with a comperable income.  Now our tax base is so low that much of government spending is borrowing or printing.

Alstry has been documenting the process for over a year.....we are now at about the point of MOAP...let's hope the choice will be ours.....will it be Depression or Demorcracy?

LAROUCHE ADDRESSES DIPLOMATS:Mass Strike Is Opportunity
To Create New Monetary System

Aug. 19, 2009, (EIRNS)—Here are Lyndon LaRouche's opening remarks today, to private luncheon attended by members of the Washington diplomatic corps.

[PDF version of this transcript]

Today, I have to present, I think, on this occasion, a qualified forecast of some things which are certain, and some things which have yet to be decided. What is certain, as of now, unless there's a very radical change from anything in sight between now and the middle of October, is, we are in a period of a general breakdown, of the entire world financial system. That is not an exaggeration. That's not maybe: The breakdown of the entire international financial system is now in progress.

The thing that will trigger the breakdown, is the collapse of the U.S. dollar. The whole system is ready to go: Where is the detonator on the explosive charge? The detonator on the explosive charge is inside the United States, and involves the effect of a collapse of the value of the dollar on the international market. And by collapse, I mean collapse. We have 48 states in the United States, which are formally in bankruptcy; we have a debt outstanding against the U.S. Treasury and Federal Reserve System, in the order of magnitude of $24-25 trillion: A collapse of the debt of that magnitude, in the U.S. dollar, would blow every economy in the world, immediately, into bankruptcy. Which means, we're on the verge, of a crisis, which is going to hit between now, and 15th or 25th of October, which is following the end of the U.S. fiscal year, which is the end of September.

So, when the end of the fiscal year comes, then, the secrets of the U.S. government are forced out. And when the secrets of the U.S. government are forced into the public, as they must be at the end of the fiscal year, then, by that time, if not sooner, the whole U.S. system will blow out. It could blow out tomorrow. The condition for an explosion of that type is already present.

And it's not going to happen just to the United States: If it happens in the United States, every part of the world will go into a general bankruptcy of the system. Because the debt of the United States is so large, that a collapse of the value of the debt, as in the case of China—if the U.S. dollar collapses in value, then what is the value of the debt of China denominated in dollars? It's a crisis for China. It will be also a crisis for Russia, and for every other nation. It will cause a general blowout of the European economies, including the British economy.

So therefore, that looming prospect, for which there are certain alternatives, that looming prospect is the reality of the present time—already. It's not something that will happen. It's something that has already happened. Because the existing situation defines it as such.

The question is, what is going to happen in the remaining days ahead, between now and the middle of October? What is going to happen, that is going to determine what the result is?

Detroit on brink of financial ruin

Detroit has fallen so far into debt that the only way out is through bankruptcy or mass layoffs, according to a former city auditor who is familiar with the city's financial structure.

"I don't see the city getting out of this financial mess short of a bankruptcy," said Joe Harris, a former auditor general who was chief financial officer in late 2008 and early 2009.

Now, as the budget continues to balloon -- Detroit Mayor Dave Bing estimates at least a $300-million accumulated deficit and a $60-million to $80-million immediate cash shortfall -- there's concern that the city will not be able to limp its way through the end of the year.

Bing has warned that the city could run out of cash by October and that at least 1,000 workers must be laid off if bankruptcy or an emergency financial manager is to be avoided.

http://www.freep.com/article/20090830/NEWS05/908300547/1319/Detroit-nearing-financial-ruin--city-s-ex-auditor-says

When you raise interest rates and cut off credit to the private economy, you effectively shut down a private economy that is infected with massive leverage.  With no private economy, tax receipts to government evaporate.

If government keeps spending in that environment, your currency devalues and the result is the worst of all worlds, an inflationary depression where incomes decline and costs for basic needs skyrocket.....very different than what we experienced in the 70s.

Think of Detroit and California as the leaders in this mess...prectically every state, county and city in the U.S. is headed in the same direction.

In the end, we will be forced to make a choice...a deep depression through restructuring or lose the capitalistic demorcracy our nation was built upon.

TO KEEP MOAP IN PERSPECTIVE...GOVERNMENT, BANKERS AND MEDIA IS TELLING US THE RECESSION IS OVER.

Jersey,

Just an observation...I rarely see Fox attacking the central issue..the insolvency of the United States and what created it.  Most of the attacks are on collateral issues designed to insight often misguided passion.

One could legitimately argue the Republicans are more culpable for putting us in this mess than Democrats,,,,but from my vantage point it is a difference without a distinction.

That said, Beck is now raising some important issues....he is Dobbs counterpart....both are being marginalized, but no network as a whole is really informing America as to the real core issue.

As far as viewership, popularity doesn't really determine substantively much...there are many times in history that the masses have been wrong.

What is disturbing is how the entire media has been controlled through this process and each through omission/comission have been complicit.

Iceland's parliament agreed to reimburse the United Kingdom and the Netherlands almost $6 billion used to compensate British and Dutch depositors who lost money in a failed Icelandic Internet bank.

The deal will saddle the island nation of 300,000 with a heavy debt -- about half a year's economic output, or nearly $20,000 per Icelander -- but it averts a diplomatic crisis that could have derailed Iceland's aspirations to join the European Union and delayed international funding it sorely needs in the wake of a catastrophic financial-system collapse last fall.

The above is an example of joint liability where citizens bear the responsibility and consequences of their politicians....our problems are much bigger than Icelands factoring our debt and entitlement obligations.

Do you have an answer? Could it be because he has his people tell you what you already believe to be the case, no matter how silly it is?

Interesting that you can post about how dumb most Americas are being, and then present these same dummies' viewing habits as evidence that Fox is in some way superior to the other networks.

Fox News IS the mainstream media. They're the other side of the same coin as MSNBC. Worse, actually, because they are so effective at leading conservatives onto tangental issues - the people who should be speaking out against the Zombulator, if they were still forming their own opinions rather than having them spoon-fed by foreign propagandists and opportunistic shock jocks.

If anything, they've created an atmosphere that's going to make the necessary adjustments that much more difficult. If EVERYTHING the government does is wrong, then the government can do nothing. And you are totally on your own. You're not going to like that.

An army of agitated, misinformed people, no matter how large, is not going to be a bit of help in the coming crises.

I don't agree that Katrina is a good predicter. It's kind of difficult to put this without coming across un-PC, but most of those "regular citizens" who would have kept calm and helped encourage law 'n' order had already evacuated. That definitely wasn't the majority of New Orleans residents, nor was it the Fox News bunch, that you saw causing trouble on the Katrina footage.

I'm not saying that it won't be bad. Just that I'm not expecting the entire country to explode into anarchy, because that's not our tendency.

Localized unrest? You betcha. And the right-wing noise machine will be responsible for a lot of it. I reiterate ... if EVERYTHING the government does is wrong, then the government can do nothing. I am absolutely positive that if Obama handled the crisis PRECISELY as Beck and Limbaugh wanted him to (whatever the heck that would be), the next day Beck and Limbaugh would be on the air calling the President Satan incarnate and hailing the Communist Manifesto as the answer to all our problems.

I wonder where the wingnuts will get their opinions from if their media outlets (cable, satellite, broadcast) all go out of business?

Any opportunity to reinforce the moral and factual bankruptcy of Fox News and its commentators - on ALL matters, including financial - is not a waste of time. As Fox News well knows, repetition is the sincerest form of propaganda.

I see you still have no answer to my question, so now you've decided Fox News is off topic - when you're the one who brought it up.

We're being VERY on-topic when it comes to this particular post - "Democracy or depression." The Conservative noise machine is clearly going to play a significant, and in my opinion terribly negative, role in this question.

As for sounding the alarm, I could sound the alarm about trouser-stealing Socialist robots from Jupiter. That doesn't make me credible just because the word Socialist is in there.

Of course, I don't have a radio show.

If you think that debt won't rollover & that the mass hallucination of fiat currency will simply vanish or cease to function in the dawn of some bean counting end date, then, what you need to do is bring your garden hose inside and guard it all night so your neighbors don't cut it up to siphon your fuel to get to whatever cave they're moving into.
