So long, Jerry

November 18, 2008 – Comments (6) | RELATED TICKERS: MSFT , YHOO

OK, I haven't followed Yahoo! too closely lately, other than noticing that everything seems to have gotten a bit tedious what with the difficulties with a turnaround and the whole Yahoo!/Microsoft debacle earlier this year. However, I will miss Jerry Yang for one reason, and that's the probability for less inspiration from a new CEO for an article like Icahn or Icahnt, which I wrote entirely in fake Shakespearean back in June. Too bad... that was a lot of fun! Obviously it was, or I guess I wouldn't think about it almost everytime I think of Jerry Yang...   [more]

What the heck's up with Ben Stein?

November 17, 2008 – Comments (13)

I've been wondering about some of the stuff I've seen him write for months now, but this one just takes the cake -- Reflate the Economy - Now posted on Yahoo! Finance. I mean seriously... this just blows me away. (I also remember in the spring how he was saying there was no problem, no chance of recession, no widespread pain, oh pshaw... LOL, that was the first time I, uh, kind of wondered about what the heck was going on with this guy.)  [more]

Mugging

November 14, 2008 – Comments (3)

OK, I think a lot of us are worked up by Treasury and the FED's crazy doings... I've seen evil, lying, incompetence... I'm amenable to all those but submit we got mugged too -- a rant on Fool.com. (Although I see a commenter has already argued that "mugging" isn't a strong enough word... maybe not indeed.)  [more]

Crocs will file 10-Q late

November 06, 2008 – Comments (2) | RELATED TICKERS: CROX

Crocs issued a press release today about its quarterly results coming up on November 12, and, oh yeah, threw in how it plans to file its 10-Q late. (Just like last quarter.) Companies occasionally do file NT-10-Q's and it's not always a sign of something necessarily terrible (or sometimes it's just a sign of something weird and random, like "chimpanzees escaped from the local zoo and attacked our office to our great trepidation, one's still crouched on top of my desk, staring at me"), but I'd say it's enough to make one a little less than comfortable (or at the very least a good indication to make a date with yourself to sit down and read that 10-Q went it does get filed). And with Crocs let's just say I'm not confident they're overwhelmed with awesomeness inundating their business at the moment.  [more]

Just one more thing to drive us crazy....

November 05, 2008 – Comments (7) | RELATED TICKERS: TIVO , TM

OK, the other day I was thinking about the possibility that the poor economy might make some of us even loopier, ore at least far more annoyed, if we end up exposed to the same TV advertisers over and over and over -- the few that may be left that can afford to advertise. My current nominations: the awful FreeCreditReport.com guy ads, or maybe Subway's "Five... Five Dollar... Five Dollar footlooooong" and oh yeah, Billy Mays.   [more]
