Mishkin squirms in his seat as he offers a half-hearted defense of his dubious report. On Thursday and Friday of last week, sugar prices declined by twenty percent. As any parent knows, most kids’ diets are made up primarily of sugar (Captain Crunch, Oreos, Pop Tarts, etc). So American families are now much, much better off as result of the plunge in sugar prices. They will most certainly spend that savings productively, which will in turn stimulate our economy and put Americans back to work.  [more]

He and his partner, Jeff Keswin, figured they’d raise $10 million to start with. Alas, they ended up with $900 thousand, most of which was from Einhorn’s parents. Einhorn realized that, “almost no one would invest with a couple of twenty-seven-year-olds with no track record” and that the “only way to get a track record would be to get started.”  [more]
