Ron Paul: Obama’s ‘goal’ is economic collapse

June 23, 2009 – Comments (9)

Posted on The Raw Story. ObDisclaimer: I did not vote for either branch of the ruling elite party. I wouldn't have voted for Ron Paul, either, had he been running on the Republicrat ticket, although I like a lot of what he has to say.   [more]

California Collapsing (paging alstrydomous)

June 22, 2009 – Comments (7)

Martin D. Weiss, Ph.D. (whoever he is, haven't done a background check) has posted a thought-provoking, if somewhat shallow, article regarding the state of the State of California. Things he notes:  [more]

ABC turns programming over to White House

June 16, 2009 – Comments (1)

I remember back when Matt Drudge first burst on the scene during the early days of the Lewinski scandal.  Has he broken any other big stories since then? None that I recall, although nobody can say he hasn't tried. Consider his latest headline (you'll see it up there in my post title). I think he might be stretching things just a wee bit in this Drudge Report Flash. On the other hand, maybe this is a case of where there's smoke, there's fire.   [more]

U.S. healthcare overhaul begins to take shape

June 15, 2009 – Comments (1)

Sometimes I think that foreign press is more interested in what goes on in the halls of power here in the US than our domestic journalists. Case in point, this article from Reuters, which has nicely laid out details about the coming "proposed health care change." Why don't I see this in my local, state or regional papers?   [more]

Robert Reich, "The health care war is now official."

June 15, 2009 – Comments (2)

You can see the Professor's post on his blog for more details. The comments are what really entertain me. Seems to me there is a War on Everything going on now. Anyone else feel like the government's default stance on any topic is "WAR!" What ever happened to peace? Oh, yeah, hard to control the populace when there isn't a threat. :\   [more]

Top Democrat Says Obama's Czars Are Unconstitutional

June 15, 2009 – Comments (4)

It would seem that Senator Byrd, who has been earning a living on the backs of the taxpayer since before President Obama was born, is finally fed up with the unconstitutional Presidential practice of appointing individuals to oversee policy absent oversight by the Congress. You can read all about it over on TownHall.com.  [more]

Eateries May Close; Restaurants on the Ropes

June 14, 2009 – Comments (0)

Yahoo! news has an article on a bunch of restaurant chains that are having financial difficulties in this economy. What I gleaned from the piece is that being in the middle of the market is not a GoodThing(tm). One point of fact that they get wrong, though, concerns the Bennigan's Steak and Ale chain. They did not actually "go belly up" last year. The corporate owned stores shut down, but the franchisees are still running.  [more]

US Cities May Have To Be Bulldozed To Survive

June 12, 2009 – Comments (5)

According to the Telegraph, the Obama administration has tapped Genesee County (Michigan) Treasurer Dan Kildee to spearhead a program to bulldoze portions of 50 US cities. You can read the details in the linked article, but I have a question:  [more]

June 07, 2009 – Comments (0)

Bloomberg is reporting that John Lipsky, First Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) told a panel at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum that the IMF could introduce a new global reserve currency based on its Special Drawing Rights (SDRs). While acknowledging that the move would be "revolutionary," Lipsky also said, "“There are many, many attractions in the long run to such an outcome."  [more]
