FINALLY!!! - The Petroalgae saga has ended

June 08, 2010 – Comments (12) | RELATED TICKERS: PALG.OB.DL

I was looking through my friends list this morning and noticed quite a few of them had huge jumps in CAPS points this morning.  Their best performing pick was PALG.OB.  Many of us knew that this was a manipulated pump and dump company.  If you need to know the details, check the dozens of redthumb comments on the stock's page.  I shared in the pain with many top CAPS members of holding a company I knew was worth zero, while the stock held multibillion dollar market cap.  Now that pain has ended (at least for me).  To my pleasure, the stock dropped this morning to $6 per share, just enough to trigger my limit order and I actually ended the pick with a gain (somewhere around 300points total).   [more]

Whats with the selloff in Gold?

June 04, 2010 – Comments (17) | RELATED TICKERS: GLD , CEF , GDX

Currently gold is currently down to $1200 per oz.  Gold has been selling off like crazy all week.  I've been checking the dollar index over the same period and I see no correlation (e.g. flight to "safety"). I haven't seen any articles or heard any commentary attempting to explain the selloff.

Either way the whole thing sounds fishy.

Great Cartoon on the current financial crisis

June 01, 2010 – Comments (1)

The Queen of the cosmos cartoons has chronicled the entire financial crisis with humor and great metaphors.  I thought today's cartoon was especially good.  I wish I had permission to embed but I'll just post the link.

I encourage you to check out the previous cartoons as well.
