I got out with the collapse of Satyam, and my timing turned out to be incredibly opportune, though not for the reasons I expected. The Satyam situation has smoothed over some, even though there are few answers, and it doesn't appear to be shaking international investor confidence in and of itself -- so I'm going to disregard my prior position and ease back into the market. In fact, I did this Tuesday with a position in AIB (the ADR), which I will be selling most of today, hopefully a bit over $2, for a position in TCK. (AIB was a pure speculative play -- I was buying people's fear, and will be selling the brief confidence that comes from stepped up recapitalization efforts by the Irish government. In the long run, it's probably still a great buy if it isn't nationalized, which is why I'll maintain a relatively small position [I went 100% AIB on Tuesday, which many people would consider to be "foolish" not "Foolish" -- but I looked at their valuation vs the valuation of their foreign holdings and couldn't resist.] [more]
