In politics, changing your mind is a huge liability. Dubya's early popularity was partly attributable to him being "a man of conviction". His values cannot be swayed. Once he commits to a view or a path, it ain't changin', come hell or high water. We like our leaders to be steadfast and not waffle. Bush fits the bill perfectly. So much so that he shuns new and relevant information, even if it comes from domain experts.   [more]
