Airlines in my opinion are NEVER a good investment. If history has taught us anything it's that costs associated with operating an Airline really limit the profit potential. I like to use Airlines like JetBlue when I travel, but that doesn't mean that they are good investments.
The BRIC is where it's at! Ask Jim Rogers! This area of the world has too much potential...I'm buying and holding, and 30 years from now I'll be sipping Mai-Tai's in Macau.
A lot of "smart" money has been injected into this sector more recently (6-8 months). I wouldn't expect profound growth in this sector in the short term, but there certainly are some "values" out there. There is greater upside potential than downside in this sector. I'm buying and holding, within 2-5 years I'll be pleased with this decision.
I've gotten out of a few Consumer Cyclicals lately. I don't think it's a far cry to think that consumer spending will be cutting back over the next year. With prices rising just about everywhere consumers will need to be more mindful of their budgets. I'll be closely monitoring this sector, because there will be some strong buying opportunities presenting themselves within the next 12-18 months.
A few weeks back, I jumped into the housing sector. I don't know whether it was the right timing or not, but I'm not talented enough to "time" the markets. I felt and still feel now, that it's as good a time as any to get into the housing sector. Growth may not come for some time, but patience is a virtue in investing. There is greater potential upside than downside in my opinion.
