Sadly, all four years of my picks, score leaders,snarky taunts and clever comments have evaporated into the grand ether of the net today. I broke The Motley Fool's back end software by accumulating in excess of 16,000 picks, so the IT gods have re-set my profile, erased my 4,000 or so points, and I begin my Sisyphean task all over again with a symbolic 16 picks - just three orders of magnitude away from blowing it all up again!

Okay, I seem to have missed the announcement but the revised help files confirm it. The old Pick Rules of a minimum $1.50 price and $100 Million Market Cap are dead. The new Pick Rules are a minimum price of only 50 cents plus $50,000 trading volume on the previous day, and a recent average trading volume of $50,000. This opens up a whole new world of thumbs up and thumbs down spec plays in the low priced arena. Did I miss the e-mail or press release? Something huge like this should have been announced in some way. The first time I noticed a stock was pickable even though it's market cap was below $100 million I even filled out a BUG REPORT! [more]
