Bank of America earnings last Friday wrapped up the big bank earnings reports. BAC was the only one of the big four to report a loss for both the last quarter and 2010. BAC would have posted gains except for goodwill impairment charges. [more]

About nine months ago, Citigroup's (NYSE: C) share price managed to crack through $5 per share, but it wasn't able to hold that lofty level. Recently, the stock broke the $5 mark again and then pulled back after a weak earnings report. Can Citi reclaim a five-handle and keep going? [more]

I took a swing at Johnson & Johnson as part of a portfolio check-up over the weekend. I hold JNJ for growing dividend income. It has been, and still is, a good holding for that, but there were a few other healthcare holdings that stacked up pretty well. [more]

It was interesting that two mortgage REITs, Annaly (NLY) and Hatteras (HTS), both started the new year off by issuing shares. In both cases the companies plan to use the new money to buy more mortgage paper and leverage it up - basically expand the current business models. [more]
