Lunching at Garnet Crustacean

August 03, 2011 – Comments (5) | RELATED TICKERS: DRI , PNRA.DL

The other day my co-workers decided to celebrate somebody's birthday so we all went out to Red Lobster (code name the Garnet Crustacean). I had never been to the restaurant before because my husband and I are not seafood lovers as a rule (although once as a teen, I was payed in shrimp for babysitting). I wanted an inexpensive entree for lunch so I ordered clam chowder and a salad on the side. I noticed that there was hardly anything to eat for someone like my husband who doesn't even tolerate seafood. Even the chicken entree had shrimp included. (I can understand that a seafood restaurant serves seafood, but in a group of friends there is bound to be someone who wants landbased critters or no critters at all.) With the tip, my cost was $10. I didn't understand why the menu didn't package soup & salad together conveniently except that I felt that purposely there was little way to build an inexpensive meal. The waitress did suggest that I choose an entree that already included a salad, but it would have been a total meal cost of $12. Also if it hadn't been for the complimentary cheese biscuits on the table, I would have gone hungry.    [more]
