12 Stocks Raising Dividends and Expectations

October 31, 2016 – Comments (0) | RELATED TICKERS: CVX , ABBV , HON

Gregg S. Fisher noted in a 2009 Forbes article that the assumption that investors are rational agents is bunk. He went on to say "We are not rational. We’re human. Even the most brilliant investor can be swayed by emotions into making irrational decisions that result in financial loss." Logic has very little to do with short-term movements in stock prices. Knowing this, there are some things that long-term buy-and-hold investors can do to profit from these irrational moves in the market, such as following a disciplined approach of acquiring stocks that routinely increase their dividends.

Below are several companies that are helping build shareholder wealth through higher their cash dividends:

If Only I Had Known About These Dividend Stocks...

October 26, 2016 – Comments (0) | RELATED TICKERS: MSFT , ABT , MMM

At one time or another, we all have thought, 'If only knew this when I was younger.' I purchased my first dividend stock for income in 2003. Like many newly converted income investors, I was chasing yield. I quickly built a portfolio consisting of Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs), Master Limited Partnerships (MLPs) and high yield, high risk stocks. My portfolio’s yield was consistently in the low to mid-teens. Eventually, after some unnecessary losses, I learned there was a better way to invest in dividend stocks. Here is what I learned...

12 Dividend Stocks Building Future Yield

October 24, 2016 – Comments (0) | RELATED TICKERS: V , ACN , NAT

Driven by computers that cost more than the average person will earn in their lifetime the investment markets move at light speed. To keep pace hedge funds, mutual funds, institutional investors and multi-billion dollar money managers spend large sums of money on high-tech tools to give them an edge. So, what chance does a small individual investor have? Not much of a chance if you let the Wall Street players define the rules. However, you might just slay the giant if you define the rules and focus on quality blue chip dividend growth stocks and long-term, buy-and-hold and investing strategy.

Below are several companies building future yield with increased cash dividends for their shareholders:

If you want to lower the risk of your income portfolio and position yourself to increase returns, you can not ignore asset allocation. 10 Dividend Stocks Building Superior Long-Term Returns

October 17, 2016 – Comments (0) | RELATED TICKERS: OHI , IP , AEE

Investing in Dividend Stocks is a long-term strategy. Frequent buying and selling of dividend stocks can significantly increase your expenses and taxes, thus lowering your returns. A growing dividend is a strong indication of a company's increasing intrinsic value. Great companies that increase dividends tend to have rising share prices over time. Holding only first-rate businesses protects your dividend stream and helps provide for steady price appreciation.

Below are several companies building future returns with higher cash dividends:

10 Stocks Growing Their Cash Dividends

October 10, 2016 – Comments (0) | RELATED TICKERS: EPD , INTU , LTC

When people learn that I am an income investor, the reaction is often a desire to discuss high-yield investments. Many people commonly confuse income investing with high-yield investing. The two are not the same. High-yield investing often carries a greater degree of risk than I am willing to accept. For me, I will continue to focus on high-quality dividend stocks at lower, but growing, yields.

Below are several dividend stocks that recently grew their yields by paying higher cash dividends:

September 2016 Progress Report

October 07, 2016 – Comments (0) | RELATED TICKERS: O

Once again it is time for a goals/progress update. I am pleased to report that annualized dividend income increased last month, extending the streak to 48 consecutive months of increases. As noted in the June 19, 2015 post,  I changed to reporting on total dividend income instead of just income from my Dividend Growth Portfolio beginning in July 2015.

Since I began tracking my total income progress, annualized dividend income has increased in 48 of the last 48 months.

5 Stocks With Room To Grow Their Dividend

October 05, 2016 – Comments (0) | RELATED TICKERS: AFL , CINF , GPC

Dividend sustainability is paramount for the high-yield investor. Having a stock cut its dividend could potentially crush their income. A high-yield investor is less concerned about dividend growth than maintaining the current high-yield. Most traditional dividend growth stocks pay a moderate to low yield, thus sustainability is not enough - the investor in Dividend Growth Stocks also expects substantial and consistent growth.

11 Stocks Providing Their Shareholders A Growing Income With Higher Cash Dividends

October 03, 2016 – Comments (0) | RELATED TICKERS: MCD , O , AXP

The life-blood of a sound dividend growth strategy is a growing dividend. Often the initial yield of a dividend growth stock is less than other available stocks, but the dividend growth stock comes with an expectation of reasonable increases year after year. This compounding effect will quickly grow the stock's income. It is well worth the investor's time to find companies that can deliver on this expectation.

Below are several companies that are providing their shareholders a growing income with higher cash dividends:
