I've been following this story http://finance.yahoo.com/news/FCC-plans-nix-wireless-apf-2341980751.html out of the corner of my eye for a while.  I know that Lightsquared is venture backed and private, but competes with Clearwire (CLWR).   My question is whether anyone thinks that Lightsquared can solve their GPS interference issue technically (or politically $$$), or if this could be a positive catalyst for Clearwire, which has otherwise been crushed over the last few years and has 35% of it's shares sold short.   [more]

I watch Dennison (DNN), Strathmore (STHJF.PK), and Fission (FSSIF.PK) personally.  Another HREE junior with U exposure, UCore (UURAF.PK) is spiking, too.

I like the fundamentals of uranium for power generation, obviously, but it's odd/interesting to see so much of the sector up 10% on no particular news (that I've noticed, at least).

A while back I made a bad call in CAPS on Miscor (now MIGL.PK) because they did outsourced maintenance on electric engines in railroad engines and wind turbines (this seemed like a very attractive set of businesses when oil was pushing towards $125).  That was right before 2008, and there stock cratered as their customers cut back on expenses and delayed repairs.  I have some shares left at a substantial loss and a few that I bough more recently as a speculative play.  [more]
