Last night I posted a blog linking to an article where Madoff calls the Federal Government a ponzi scheme....well, I thought I linked it to that page...apparently I linked it to an O.J. Simpson juice extractor called "The Juicer" with his face on it...I just realized it.... [more]
Quick question. Oil up like 15% since fri. SLB down about 1.5% since then. Libya is only 1% of their revenue.
Clearly a huge disconnect. Is this a buying opportunity, or is the price action saying SLB is overpriced and needs a pullback, or that something else is wrong, like this is only temporary?
There are always sorority girls on my campus screaming "HELP RAISE MONEY FOR (insert thing here)". They are out there for like 5 hours and probably each come away with $10 in change each. [more]
This is not a correction, because everybody I heard on TV and CAPS keeps saying "alright wait for this correction to be over in a week or two, then buy more". So, people are still longer term bullish, and everybody is expecting a correction (so it can't happen). [more]

I know a lot of you on here hate Cramer, but he said something last night (or two nights ago, I forget) that is spot on. People keep calling him asking him if CAT has topped out yet. He keeps responding by telling him this: [more]
Two quick things that I can’t quite make right in my head, if anybody knows this stuff, please help me understand it better.
This isn't going to be a long post, because I don't have too much to say about it. I just truly don't understand why people would not own PM or MO because they sell cigarettes. Now, if you are one of those people that is fine, I am not here to judge. However, a lot of corporations do bad things. A crapload of corporations pollute like crazy, or have some secretive connections with politicians, or have sweat shop labor overseas, or mistreat animals, or sell food products with loads of hormones and other junk, or spill oil all over the place. And those are things that are against peoples will....at least the people dying from PM products are choosing to do so. If anything I see PM as one of the more responsible corporations in that they are loyal to shareholders. I am not sure how one can be against manufacturing cigarettes but support corporations that pollute heavily or make products produced by 5 year olds. [more]
See, I can misquote to make a point about a blog too.
It amazes me how many people were too stubborn and missed the incredible bull market from September 1st to now. Whether or not it was fake, inflated, stupid, a bubble, whatever...the markets up a lot, so don't get mad at the people who were a part of it. If you don't want your 'funny money' then by all means, I will give you my address, please ship it to me.

So when inflation kicks in, interest rates have to rise. But gold goes down when interest rates go up. But gold goes up when inflation kicks in....what am I misunderstanding? And how will China raising rates affect gold this week?
