I have finally finished the semester. I was in the bottom 20 just a month ago, but apparently I have found a pretty good formula for success. PEG analysis really makes a difference for me. It is not the be-all or end-all, but it serves as a pretty decent screen once a stock makes it past my initial screen. Anyways, I have learned a lot and should be ready to sit for the CPA exam in January or February. I still have my job, which has genuinely surprised me. We have had many ups and downs this year. My company manufactures industrial equipment. However, we have had a good year up until last month. Hopefully, things will return to normal soon. I will keep you posted. [more]

Wow, I finally made it back to the All-Star camp after a long sabbatical in the bottom 20. I am nearing the end of this very difficult semester and should be ready to sit for the CPA exam early next year. The question is what will happen next. [more]

For a while, I was an All-Star, then I collapsed into a black hole. Now I am finally out of that pit. I am not shining yet, but I am making big improvements each day. I think I finally have a CAPS sytem that is working for me now. [more]

Well, the world has turned upside down and my real investments (401k and mutual funds) have lost quite a large percentage. At least we missed some of the turmoil. Life is good, and I am still sitting pretty compared to two years ago. My wife and I own our first house. I have a job. I am getting ready to graduate college with a Master of Accountancy degree in the spring. I should have no trouble getting my CPA certification. With the move towards IFRS (International Financing Reporting Standards), there will be a need for sharp young minds that can adjust to changing conditions no matter which way the market moves. I am very blessed. That is all there is to it. Our company is switching 401(k) providers and all of our accounts were transferred to cash on 9/12/08. This money will be reinvested according to our choices within a couple weeks. [more]
