Am I a contrarian!? Whoopee!

July 28, 2008 – Comments (0)

For 6 weeks, I've been on a roller coaster! I wrote about whiplash before, and it happened again! Why is it that my score varies so much in times of panic for the general market!? All the while staying so stable, despite my regular buys and sells?   [more]

whiplash!!

March 24, 2008 – Comments (0)

After being in the 90's for months, I suddenly dropped into the 30's last week. Then today, back up to the 90's! Thank goodness I'm not dealing with real stocks, or I would be pacing at night! As it is, my portfolio is relatively stable and has not suffered huge losses. Strangely, I'm much less diversified in my real portfolio than in my Caps portfolio, where I am hitting up regularly against the 200-holding limit. That should mean that my Caps score should be more stable than my concentrated real portfolio, but that is not the case.  [more]

Figuring it out, and lucky

January 29, 2008 – Comments (2)

I've figure out the game as much as I can, and with the bad economy and shaky market, I'm collecting 5+pointers. to help my score and my accuracy rating. Also, I'm going short term, watching every day and making adjustments based on that. I rank by stars, and pick off the 1 and 2 star stocks that have more than 5 points. Then I rank by call, and pick off the underperforms when they get more than 5 points. I keep adding the bad performers that I  read about, things people are selling off, and gaining advantage with the sell off.   [more]

competitive spirit?

If I really wanted to win at this CAPS game (or just generally rank higher!), I would have studied it a little before jumping in with picks. I see now that I will be saddled forever with a -30 points from a FARO pick where I didn't keep tabs on it and didn't end it soon enough.   [more]
