That was weird

October 29, 2007 – Comments (1)

Before I went to bed last night (technically this morning), I noticed that I had a recommended stock for Tuesday, as well as for Monday, and it was only about 2 AM Monday EDT. Now it's gone. It was Infosys (I forget the ticker symbol - too lazy to look it up). I guess CAPS couldn't pick between Infosys and Intuit (my Monday rec).  [more]

Barrett Business Services, Inc

October 27, 2007 – Comments (1)

Does anybody know where this one (BBSI) is headed? I own this with real $, so I'm naturally curious. It looks to me like the 20% drop in two days is an overreaction to a slight rev&EPS miss and a somewhat disappointing forecast. Any thoughts?

It's all luck anyway!

October 27, 2007 – Comments (1)

Uh, I mean my rating is down 16 today. Bummer. But my real $ portfolio is up substantially. I haven't crunched any numbers yet, but it's obviously the best one-day percentage move in quite some time.  [more]

Market whax EPAX

October 25, 2007 – Comments (1)

Okay, I had a green thumb nosedive more than 50% in three days (44% in one day). It's Ambassadors Group, Inc (EPAX), a company that provides international educational trips for students and professionals. (Actually, I'm doing even worse with RDN, but since that one's a mortgage insurer, it's not really all that shocking.)  [more]

Disclosure

October 23, 2007 – Comments (1)

Hi guys! I just thought, "My CAPS homies don't know which stocks I own. That's not cool." So even though I'm not employed at the Fool (yet), here's the lowdown:

I own FMD, HERO, OXPS, BBSI, PCU, NATH, ESEA, CHKE, MRO, IRL, RAIL, and call options for ANPI (but not many). So don't buy those. My disclosing them means they're all mine. Hands off!

Just one more thing...

October 18, 2007 – Comments (4)

You boy and girls definately have to work on your spelling. Typos, okay (we're all tired). Grammatical mistakes, sure (that's how we really talk). Using the apostrophe in the possesive form of "it" is something I've probably done before too. And yes, just losing your train of thought and picking up another one of those stocks is really unfairly beaten down. But you definately need to work on your spelling. Make sure you definately know how to spell a word before you use it. I've found that it's easier to spell a word if you know it's defination. That's all part of knowing a word.  [more]

Are there any shipping companies that aren't headquartered in Greece? Just curious.

Diary of a juicer

October 17, 2007 – Comments (2)

It's confession time, boys and girls. I'm new here, but it didn't take long for my ultra-competitive (and somewhat sinister) side to figure out how to game the system. I'm a very sincere person, though, so I'm willing to tell everyone that I am using a technique that I'm almost certain the makers of CAPS didn't have in mind when they set up the ratings system. It's like juicing. Here's how it works:  [more]

Hi Kids! Did you know that the word "avatar" comes from the Hindi for "incarnation of a deity"? I'll bet you did, because you're smart. Only smart kids read my blog.  [more]

New Goal

October 11, 2007 – Comments (3)

My new goal is to get my rating over 90, and my average pick rating down to 2 stars simultaneously. I don't think anyone else even comes close. The top ten, for example, all have 4 or 5 star average pick ratings (and mine is currently 4). I need to find all the 1-star stocks that should be five stars (assuming it's not DRYS), and all the 5-star stocks that should have only one.

Cancer kids explained

October 10, 2007 – Comments (0)

I'm a pretty optimistic guy. I see myself as half full of myself. I think there are actually people reading my blog. I think there are people reading my stock pitches. And I even think that some of those people don't know why I keep referencing "cancer kids." Well here you go:  [more]

Slight return

October 06, 2007 – Comments (0)

Well, I killed all my bond and ultrashort reds that I could find. Whew, there were a lot of those buggers! Actually, I left SJH alive, because he's my favo-RITE! He's the most ridiculously dangerous ETF I've ever heard of (not counting CEF's like CRF and CLM). Also, I want to see what happens when an ultrashort gets hammered: I mean, what if the Russell 2000 doubles over a period of time? (Which it surely will.) Isn't -50% the inverse of a double? So wouldn't twice the inverse be -100%? I am not the best at weird math, so maybe I'm just doing that math wrong.  [more]

Why do you kill my cursor when I try to type?

October 03, 2007 – Comments (2)

That's not really the subject of this post, I just had to get it off my chest. I wanted to say to my imaginary fan, check out my score leader comment on EIM. It's Scrum-diddly-umptious. Hurry, before it goes away. Apparently I was a score leader for PCOP, but I'm not anymore. (How does that happen?)  [more]
