Anybody who has any interest - positive or negative - regarding climate change surely knows of the controversy surrounding the IPCC's 2007 report.  The 2007 report predicted that the Himalayan glaciers would be completely melted by 2035, which is widely thought to be inaccurate after several years of critique and review.  As a result of inaccuracies and a lack of transparency within the panel, trust surrounding the IPCC has plummeted.    [more]

Spending this Saturday night in the confines of my apartment.

The first three weeks of my program have been an absolute whirlwind.  Already, we've knocked out about 200 pages from our statistics for business management textbook, completed two days of accounting and three days of statistics preliminary coursework, and finished a case study on the overnight shipping industry.  We were grouped into teams and assigned a major telecom company, and then proceeded to complete a forward looking strategy for each company, all while competing against other teams for our first 'live" case study.  Today we had a a day-long career management seminar, where we were given presentations from the corporate marketing leader for Thermo Fisher and a partner with Deloitte.  Tomorrow, I need to read another case (I haven't even looked at it yet, so I don't know what industry it's about), read the first 3 chapters of my microeconomics book, and read two more chapters of my statistics book.  [more]

The Motley Fool has created an excellent platform for information transfer and idea sharing.  Thus far, I feel as though I have gained much more out of The Motley Fool than I have given.  While I think that this probably fits the bill for >90% of the people here, I nonetheless would like to try to start giving a bit more back to the Fool.  Considering that I am an absolute atrocious stock picker (I still think that a score of 99 should be required to be an All-Star - if someone like me can maintain a high 90s rating, then the system hasn't done a good enough job of weeding out the phonies from the real deals.  But let us not make this a blog about the rating system), I'll have to give back another way.  [more]
