a few energy stories for the week

the plan to extend lower introductory interest rates

Obviously the people at risk of foreclosure can't sell their homes for loan value. How will extending the lower introductory rates help them? I think most people would be better off walking away from homes they can't afford sooner than later. This plan will just bleed more money from them in the mean time. Also I'm not sure how many people will be affected by this since it is difficult to say who owns many of these loans. I'm assuming banks can't agree to freeze rates on loans they don't own. This plan will probably delay some foreclosures which may indeed help out banks in the near term but it doesn't really do anything so solve the problem.  [more]
