China FDI surges. China continues to heat up, reporting this morning that foreign direct investment more than doubled in December from the year before. December's FDI was $12.1B, marking the fifth consecutive month of growth. Total 2009 FDI was down 2.3% to $90B, but that's still a fairly good showing considering the state of the global economy over the past year.”  [more]

It is a must for any aspiring scientist to have an ability to formulate a hypothesis (no matter how outlandish) to be proven true or otherwise. For a process of any scientific discovery start with a hypothesis. That requires an ability to see or imagine a connection or causality where nobody has seen it yet.  [more]

Mishkin – another one in willful denial

This morning while driving I caught Mishkin on CNBC, former FED governor, now a professor at Colombia. Isn’t Colombia where Ben Bernanke used to work too ? If I were studying economics at Colombia I’d ask for a refund. One can only imagine what they teach there.  [more]
