Of course, this a famous quote from the Oracle of Omaha. The rest of the quote: “is better than buying a fair company at a good price”. Such platitudes are easy to spout, but rather more difficult to actually put into practice. How many of us have hesitated to pay an equitable price for a great company being run properly as too expensive, and opted instead for a mediocre company selling at a 52-week low? Hmmm? California Drought? Global Warming? Not!

Well, it is earnings season. We are being regaled with stories of rising food costs, shrinking corporate margins, California drought, all being blamed on “global warming” (or whatever they are calling it these days). I wish to dispel the last equality, because it is at least partly based on urban myth. There is no hard science to support it, only declamation that it is so. You see, California weather is rather unique, and the environmentalists are hoping that you do not notice the difference.   [more]
