Depressing

October 05, 2008 – Comments (0)

I don't know what's more depressing, the weak state of the American economy or the fact that the stocks I am most interested in are not traded on American exchanges. Simplo Technologies are rolling in dough and will stand to make much more money. They are the world's largest maker of laptop batteries. At the moment the demand for laptops is so great that all the manufacturers in the world cannot keep up. As of September 10th they announced that there 's a global shortage of batteries that will not abate until at least 2nd quarter next year. LG Chem is a South Korean company that makes batteries for electric and hybrid cars.  They started up in the '90's as a joint venture with HSBC bank and their stock prices rose steadily. LG Chem is currently in talks to make batteries for Hydai's cars, and they have already been tapped to make all the batteries for the new Chevy Volt that is supposed to start hitting the roads in 2010. Darn! what I'd give to own their stock.  [more]
