GDP Report: look for skewed numbers tomorrow

June 25, 2008 – Comments (2) | RELATED TICKERS: GDP , RIO , BHP

Hey I will let you guys I will let you in on a little secret. Correction a big secret. Tomorrow when the 1Q GDp is finalized, it will either be real low, like under 1% or as we will expect 1%. the latter is probably what will happen, but does this really reflect the actual real value change in the United States economy? No, it probably won't. The reason being is that when they figure for inflation, they use a thing called GDP inflation factor. This inflation gage is the very same one that they use when figuring the core rate, which is obviously inaccurate, for it calculates price changes minus food and energy, the very heart and soul of any economy. So, when they release the figure and parade around the fact that we  are not in a recession, or even a growth slump, but a temporary slow down, you will knowing why. Imagine if they used the correct rate, which is more that double the one that they use. the bottom line is the real growth should be at least 0.3% less, if not more, ranging up to an entire 1% lower.   [more]

Way to go, you are now the 3rd fool in all of Caps and are ranked 100. Your valuable insight has and will continue to help the Caps community. It was a great race up hill, as I was neck and neck with you for a while, but that is because you have proven yourself to be the better investor of the 2 of us, and beaten me. Three cheers for Rudolphsteiner.  [more]

Are the BRICs being crushed?

June 09, 2008 – Comments (11) | RELATED TICKERS: CHN , CHP.DL2 , ACH

The Chinese media is reporting that Beijing's financial authority, the China Securities Regulatory Commission, has instructed Chinese mutual funds, on pain of "administrative punishment," to shore up falling stock prices and prevent a deeper slump.

Three weeks ago the regulators appealed to the mutual funds to buy on patriotic grounds, to avoid a stock market plunge after the earthquake in Sichuan province. This time, among growing concern about inflation and economic slowdown, Beijing-based financial executives were called in by the commission Thursday and told to maintain "the principle of market stability."  [more]

OIl Cartoon

June 07, 2008 – Comments (4) | RELATED TICKERS: USO , KWK , GDP

Since oil almost broke 140, I though I would put up an image to commemorate this expected, and predictable event. Modified by me, uploaded link is mine, so I have made it my own now although it was made by an artist. The numbers were out of date, so I photoshopped the image to bring it up to date.

Enjoy!

You guys should have anew cahrm for people who make over 500 points in 1 day. It would show who can make big gains, and reward the excellent work. Also, there should be 1 for the most points gained in 1 day, of whih I think 900 points is the most ever made in 1 day, so, what do you guys think, a new charm for owniing the market by 500+ points?
