This is the final update for the two IPO's I've been closely following: Potbelly (NASDAQ:PBPB) and Re/Max (NYSE:RMAX).  The dates for the IPOs are officially set.  Potbelly's IPO is coming out on October 4th.  Re/Max is coming out October 2ndJim Cramer, interestingly, says to stay away from Re/Max and buy Potbelly.  [more]

Follow Up on Potbelly's IPO.

September 18, 2013 – Comments (0) | RELATED TICKERS: CMG , NDLS , PNRA

At the beginning of this September, I wrote a blog post about the upcoming IPO of popular restaurant chain Potbelly entitled "Why I'm Cautiously Optimistic about Potbelly's IPO." Due to some new information that has come to light after that post, I would like to issue a revised opinion on Potbelly's IPO.  (No, the date or the stock price haven't been announced.) While I'm still bullish overall on Potbelly, I am choosing to stay away from Potbelly's IPO and instead am planning on putting capital on the line for the upcoming IPO of real estate giant Re/Max.  I'll probably take another look at Potbelly maybe three or four fiscal quarters down the road after the company goes public to get a general feel for the trend in earnings.   [more]

Oh, Omeros.

September 16, 2013 – Comments (0) | RELATED TICKERS: OMER

I'm kicking myself yet again for not buying a stock that rockets.  This time, the stock in question is a dinky little biotech called Omeros (NASDAQ:OMER) I heard about last year.  (I can console myself a little because at least I didn't buy Omeros when it was at $9...but I was considering buying stock when it fell to $5. D:)  Omeros' stock has shot up 55+% so far in a single day.  Recently, Omeros released positive New Phase I data on OMS824, the company's lead compound in its phosphodiesterase 10 (PDE10) program.  Omeros plans to initiate phase II studies on OMS824 for treating patients suffering from Huntington's disease and schizophrenia by the end of 2013.  Analysts are raising their forward-looking guidance for Omeros as investors seem to be buying the Omeros turnaround story.  [more]

Last year, when was still up and running, I wrote a blog post about a potential Twitter Initial Public Offering (IPO).  If you've been following tech IPOs, you are probably aware of the large amount of hype that surrounded Facebook's (NASDAQ:FB) IPO and a similar level of excitement over Twitter's (then potential) IPO.  Now, the veil has been (partially) lifted.  It's official: Twitter is going public. Netflix Bubble 2.0.

September 10, 2013 – Comments (2) | RELATED TICKERS: NFLX

Netflix (NASDAQ:NFLX) stock has rocketed past a previous all-time high of $304.79 this morning.  According to some, this represents the perfect opportunity to short the stock since now the stock has reached a "double-top" in its chart.  With a P/E currently north of 370 and an $18.1 billion valuation, is now the time to declare "Netflix Bubble 2.0?"    [more]

Real Money Stock Pick: Perceptron!

3-D printing has become one of the market's newest hot sectors.  Shares of companies such as 3D Systems (NYSE: DDD), Stratasys (NASDAQ: SSYS), and Dassault Systèmes have soared as investors pile in, hoping that 3D printing is "the next big thing." If bullish analysts are correct, then those who jump onboard the 3D printing ship might reap large rewards in the future even if 3D printing stocks come down a little in the short term.  [more]

What Do We Do With A Problem Like Nokia?

September 04, 2013 – Comments (2) | RELATED TICKERS: AAPL , MSFT , NOK

(Yes, the title is a Sound of Music reference. :)  Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) and Nokia (NYSE:NOK) have announced that Microsoft is buying out Nokia's phone business and patents.  Nokia shares have skyrocketed as a result, and I am now kicking myself for not snapping up shares since a couple of months ago I was seriously considering an investment in Nokia as a cheap play on emerging markets.  [more]

Why I'm Cautiously Optimistic about Potbelly’s IPO.

September 01, 2013 – Comments (3) | RELATED TICKERS: CMG , NDLS , PNRA

Chicago, Illinois based Potbelly Corporation has filed for a $75 million Initial Public Offering (IPO).  The company is planning on listing its shares on the NASDAQ under the ticker symbol "PBPB."  Unfortunately, since the company has not yet released details on how many shares will be open to purchase nor how much money each share will be priced, any valuation analysis that might come into play would be impossible to conjecture about at this point.  But, the sandwich crafting enterprise has several good indicators for prospective investors, thus I believe that IPO investors should be cautiously optimistic about Potbelly's future prospects.    [more]
