December 29, 2006 – Comments (18)

I’ve written a couple of times in blog posts about the power of being a contrarian, especially here in CAPS, but it’s a lesson that I think carries over into real-life investing as well.  [more]

December 15, 2006 – Comments (3)

Gold gets mentioned quite a bit here in CAPS - and a lot of Fools have a lot of opinions, so I thought I'd share mine.  [more]

Poking a little fun.

December 14, 2006 – Comments (5)

I got an e-mail today from the Motley Fool asking me to join CAPS. Okay, hopefully nobody will take this the wrong way, but I just had to chuckle at one section - and besides, according to the CAPS help page, taunting is encouraged, so here goes. :-)  [more]

CAPS vs. Portfolio Simulation

December 13, 2006 – Comments (4)

There has been a lot of very good, thoughtful discussion about pick the size of the CAPS pick lists of some of the most highly rated CAPS players both on the CAPS boards and in blogs. December 06, 2006 – Comments (10)

I can’t tell you how much I’ve learned in just these first several months I’ve been playing CAPS. Yeah, but how good is he with *real* money?

December 05, 2006 – Comments (13)

I absolutely *love* CAPS - for a whole lot of reasons. One thing CAPS isn't though, by design, is a portfolio simulation game. There is no buying more on dips, allocating more money to some picks than to others, etc.. This might leave some Fools wondering, "Hey, that player's CAPS score is great, but what does that tell me about how good that player is when it comes to investing in the real world?"  [more]

My thoughts on asset allocation.

December 01, 2006 – Comments (3)

TMFJake wrote a wonderful and thoughtful blog post today, and I highly reccomend reading it. I thought I'd post my thoughts on the subject here because while his post inspired me to write this, what I have to say here doesn't really 'fit' with the direction I think he intened his thread to go.  [more]
