Domestically - Wendy’s recently claimed the title of the number-two burger-chain in America. Taking the number two spot dethrones Burger King, who previously held the title for over 40-years.
Internationally - Wendy’s is making plans for aggressive international expansion; announcing development agreements for new restaurants in Singapore, the Middle East, North Africa, Russia, the Caribbean, Argentina, the Philippines and Japan. Most recently, Wendy’s announced another new development agreement for the countries of Georgia and the Republic of Azerbaijan.
An example of this aggressive international expansion is Japan. In December of 2011, Wendy’s opened up a new restaurant in Tokyo, Japan. This is one of over 100 new restaurants Wendy’s plans to open in Japan in the next 5-years and one of over 700 new restaurants in Japan over the long-term. [more]
