Just some CAPS --- stuff

November 07, 2014 – Comments (7)

I recently participated in a 'live blog' in the ONE service where CAPS was the topic.  I had a role in tallking about 'how caps can help one invest better'.  Because I am a bit methodical and OCD, I took a couple hours before the chat to pre-write some introductory stuff, some links I might use, thoughts on some topics should they come up, etc.  Far easier to paste in something prewritten than type it out real time (I don't type so great).  I am pasteing in below that word file.  I used some of it, but not all.  Added a couple of items that came up in the chat as well.  [more]

The Helical Portfolio, my Roth IRA focused entirely on the healthcare sector, is approaching 4 years old.  The exercise in both notebooking and acting on my perceived acumen for investing in this sector has been fruitful to date, as I continue to beat both my goal of an 8-10% long term IRR, and the S&P 500 (less important honestly).  [I need to give the primary goal of the portfolio more thoughtful consideration, it should really be an ‘inflation-plus’ target rather than the fixed 8-10% range, which assumes the modest inflation of the past couple of decades will persist- suggestions?].  [more]
