I rafted the Grand Canyon last winter. A 25 day trip with a group of six close friends in Tucson. We were all young, most of us were stupid, and we all had a more optimistic outlook on the trip than we should have (we brought too much alcohol and not enough food). The Colorado river, spanning 220 miles through the canyon is home of the fastest moving water in North America. The rapids have their own class system. The climax of the trip was the worst of the rapids, Lava Falls coming on day 22. It was a class 10, meaning "Unable to navigate. Un-runnable at certain water levels." You wont beat the market by buying stock in Google then sitting on it until you're 60. Nor will you beat the market by trying to time its moves (day-trading, swing trading, etc). You beat the market by finding tomorrow's Google (a tough task) and by buying stocks that people hate (rather easy, see BP). [more]
