Seriously Considering Shorting Salesforce.com

November 16, 2011 – Comments (11) | RELATED TICKERS: CRM

Piper cut estimates for 2013 EPS by 15%.  The stock has a 3.3 PEG and trades at a P/E of 666.7 and a forward P/E of 76.  All Dupont metrics including ROE itself are terrible.  There is zero insider buying and some modest insider selling.  Revenue growth has slowed in the last couple of years.  If we do have more of a serious downturn in early 2012, it is substantively going to get hit with that, too.  [more]

Abbott Laboratories Pitch Revisited

November 16, 2011 – Comments (0) | RELATED TICKERS: ABT

I have owned this stock since April 13, 2010, when I purchased shares for $52.44/share.  I posted a very, very long pitch with the pick.  I doubled my holding in January 2011 at approximately $47/share.  The stock currently trades at $54.40.  In CAPS I'm +4.13 as of today, though that is only measured with regard to the first purchase.  [more]

Reviewing My Ituran Holding With New Pitch Information

November 15, 2011 – Comments (8) | RELATED TICKERS: ITRN

History of Holding:  I first bought this stock during the height of the crisis around $8/share, and sold it in April/May 2010 around $15/share, when I raised money to maintain a cash cushion before buying my first house.  I bought back into it with a 1/2 position in April 2011 at just over $15/share, and since then it has underperformed handily.  I tend to do a 1/2 position based on basic, fairly involved research, and then add to stocks as I do more research and grow more comfortable/knowledgeable, assuming they remain both good and undervalued.   I am now reviewing the status of the company and my plans for the future.  [more]

Get Busy Buyin', or Get Busy Dyin'

November 09, 2011 – Comments (14) | RELATED TICKERS: SPY

Just a heads up to my regular readers, i.e., my mother and my dog (ok, really just my dog), that the Euro crack-up we have long-feared may be upon us sooner than we think.  Regardless of what you may have read elsewhere, this humber commentator views this crisis as primarily the fault of the ECB and its German puppeteers.  They are so terrified of inflation that they refuse to do any monetization of debt at all (relatively speaking).  Essentially, Germany is saying to the rest of the EU: "dub ist eine profligate turdblossoms; you must suffer austerity alone, and if the Euro falls in value, that just makes our exports more valuable, and if your coutries suffer, we don't care."  So either the ECB leaves off its near-criminal recklessness, and eventually takes on the role of lender of last resort (which it so far has refused to do in significant part --see above) or, as George W. Bush once said, "this sucker's goin' down."  [more]
