Gold Mania in the Yukon

May 11, 2011 – Comments (1) | RELATED TICKERS: KGC , MDLNF

The NYT has an excellent article out today discussing the relatively recent history of gold prospecting in the Yukon. I share it not to add to the PM bubble debate. Frankly, I find the bubble debates as tiring as those concerning global warming, in that no one ever changes their opinion and admits that their opponent's position is more credible. What I do take from the article is that a strong entrepreneurial spirit and knowledgable management are just as important to success, if not more so, as the type of product/service you are selling. If anyone has educated opinions on Ryan Gold or any of the other juniors mentioned, I would love to hear them. However, if you find bickering about bubbles more entertaining, have at it.  [more]

What Makes Gold Special?

November 19, 2010 – Comments (5)

Disclaimer - I am not a goldbug, nor a gold basher. It makes up a smallish (~10%) portion of my investments and that likely will not change. There is enough content on CAPS championing all sides of the gold as currency/hedge/useless metal issue for those who wish to explore the topic more thoroughly. I also do not want to discuss NPR's role in some liberal conspiracy or be told that they are Nazis.   [more]
