Both the June selloff, culminating with the panic ended by "Eat my shorts" Hank-- your taxpayer dollars are my taxpayer dollars providing the backstop in June, and the selloff of the last week are precipitated on the fear of the GSE's going under. It is a foregone conclusion that they are toast-examples of quasi government run entities at their worst, unable to provide autided statements, lobbying congress, and political hacks getting rich on the watch. In a recent post, I said I was out. Couldn't take the volatility. After a lot of reading and careful consideration, and a lot of excellent posts from CAPS community, I decided to break the account into 2. A long term investment account, with limits on my favorite stocks at crash prices, and a smaller trading account, where hopefully with fewer dolalrs I can mitigate volatility induced mistakes. The long term account is atill 90% cash. I don;t think it will become invested fully for months. [more]
