First and foremost, I am hardly considered your professional investor. I do not have a finance (or accounting) degree or background, though I did take some corporate and personal finance classes. I truly believe that most people on this site have a similar level of intelligence as I do, therefore rendering them capable of smart and successful investing. My knowledge does not include derivative measures, like many of these hedge fund, money managers and I-bankers use. However, I possess several tools to help me value stocks, evaluate the firms balance-sheet health, and anticipate future trends in industries and sectors. Why GM doesn't deserve the same level of criticism Ford receives

This is my first Blog entry, but I feel this issue is important in regards to the national economy and overall economic outlook for this country. We all know about our two main auto-makers (no, Daimler-Chrylser doesn't really compare) struggles with the strong inflation within the economy (namely oil and gas prices) the past several years. However, something needs to be set straight. Both companies get bad raps from analysts, economists, talk show hosts and people who know nothing about business, finance or investing. In my humble opinion, there is no reasons General Motors deserves the same type of negativity as Ford.   [more]
