The Netflix (NFLX) Breakdown

November 29, 2011 – Comments (0) | RELATED TICKERS: NFLX

It's probably one of the biggest stories among individual stocks for 2011. A company that was breaking through $300 and on its way to $400, gets too comfortable in its own shoes, and instead of continuing to satisfy its existing customers and provide new and improved features, the CEO and his minions, out of the blue hikes prices on its one and only product (yes, NFLX is a one product company) by 60%.  [more]

The Amazon.com (AMZN) Breakdown

November 28, 2011 – Comments (0) | RELATED TICKERS: AMZN , NFLX , AAPL

Amazon.com (AMZN) has taken a beating over the course of the past two months after hitting all-time highs back in October. I know I've tried to trade it a couple of times with no success. The last time I tried it was when it was already well oversold, and testing the 200-day moving average. I was confident that it would bounce off of it, but boy was I wrong. It cut right through support like it was butter and I took a loss on it.   [more]

6 Stocks Ready for the Short Squeeze

November 28, 2011 – Comments (0) | RELATED TICKERS: ATLC , FBP , HGG

Below are the charts of small-cap stocks that have been heavily shorted by the street, and should the market continue to rally like we are seeing here today, then these stocks could see their  share price launch into the stratosphere because of the bears being forced to cover their short positions in the stock. Based on the number of shares that are being borrowed, for some of the stocks, it could take as many as 100 days to cover all the shares held short in the individual stock.

If you don't know what a short squeeze is, that is where a stock starts to rise rapidly, and as the trend continues to escalate, the short sellers will likely want out. For example, say a stock rises 5% in one day, those with short positions may be forced to liquidate and cover their position by purchasing the stock. If enough short sellers buy back the stock, the price is pushed even higher.  [more]

SharePlanner Reversal Indicator

November 27, 2011 – Comments (0) | RELATED TICKERS: SPY

There's a lot of  talk about an IMF bailout and Germany and France forging a strong pact together to save the European union which could create havoc for the bears next week if you're not careful. As a result, I strongly recommend that you take precautions if you are still short this market. The euro is already showing strength this Sunday in trading which also happens to be bullish for the markets (traditionally speaking), and once the markets open up at 6pm eastern time, I expect we'll see some sort of bounce in the futures as well.   [more]

The Breakdown on Apple (AAPL)

November 24, 2011 – Comments (0) | RELATED TICKERS: AAPL

You might have already bought the iPad, iPhone, iPod, and every other product that apple sells with the "i" in title offering. With that said, could it be that people are over exposed and over saturated to Apple products, or is this simply a minor breather on the way back up to new highs with new ideas that will create new and fresh demand for their timeless products?  [more]

6 Stocks The Street is Buying

November 21, 2011 – Comments (0) | RELATED TICKERS: BIDU , AMRI , LSCC

By far one of my best screens in determining who is buying what on the street! What you will find are those stocks that, among other variables that I use, 1) Gaining an increased amount of coverage by brokerage firms and analysts, and 2) Being upgraded on a regular basis. This is a good screen to show you where the smart money is putting their capital to work at, without you having to actually ask them.  [more]

SharePlanner Reversal Indicator

November 20, 2011 – Comments (2) | RELATED TICKERS: SPY

This week, conditions didn't improve anymore for the bulls, and now we have a strong level of confidence that the market will be heading lower in the near-term. That doesn't mean we won't get some bounces out of this market, in fact I expect there to be plenty of them, but I do believe swing-trading long in this market will be rather difficult, and we will continue to get large overnight swings in the market. Breaking to the downside out of the triangle price pattern that had been formed over the past month, also adds to the bears and their favorable market conditions.   [more]

5 Trade Setups To Jump On

November 17, 2011 – Comments (0) | RELATED TICKERS: TXN , APA , WDC

The S&P is on the cusp of breaking out of that blasted triangle, and once it does, the move down in the market should be somewhat of a self-fulfilling prophesy as everyone and their mom seems to be watching it. Whether we break it (and yes we could bounce here still) is anyone's guess, but below I've provided you with a combination of different setups that will give you a great opportunity to profit whatever the direction the market decides to finally take.  [more]

Like last week, the SPRI is still showing itself at major extremes from evey angle, and the likes of which hasn't been seen since the March/April recovery from 2009. As I've been saying for the past week, now is not the time to be jumping on the bull's band wagon, as risk to the downside is extremely elevated.   [more]

Successful Trading In This Market

November 11, 2011 – Comments (0) | RELATED TICKERS: SPY

For those looking to swing trade this market, I think it is important to read Adam's post from earlier today, as we are consolidating/coiling in a tightening range each day. Instead of trying to predict which direction this market is going to go (and I don't care how good of a trader one says he/she is, you simply can't know at this juncture the direction), the best approach is to probably wait for the triangle to break in one direction or the other.  [more]

15 Stocks That Only Go Up

November 10, 2011 – Comments (1) | RELATED TICKERS: MA , MNST , GCO

This is by far, one of my favorite stock screens that I run. I have probably found more winning stocks (and big % ones at that) off of this screen, than any other one that I run. These stocks make it a habit to trade on their own merits and not that of the market itself. They are often overlooked, but to those who invest their capital in these stocks, the returns that the investors receive are very rewarding. So if you've been scratching your head recently as to what stocks you should be trading, then the stocks below are probably just what the doctor ordered.  [more]

November 05, 2011 – Comments (0) | RELATED TICKERS: SPY

It's been a hectic couple of weeks in the stock market recently and based on the indicator below, we are reaching a point where, as traders, we need to look for places to start booking gains on our long positions. You have some news after the close on Friday about another CME notice that raises initial margin requirements to 1.0 across the board on all margin products. Then you also have additional Greek uncertainty still, and fractures in the bailout coalition. Not to mention, the market is as overbought as it has been in quite some time.   [more]
