China Secretly Stockpiling Gold Since 2003!!

April 24, 2009 – Comments (34)

This is a monumental development within the gold market, as it makes public something I've known to be true. Those like me who've been watching gold carefully for years noted the seamless way in which central bank gold sales were absorbed into the market with only mild impacts upon price, and surmised that a nation with substantial foreign reserves was converting chunks into gold to reduce exposure to USD assets.  [more]

Peabody Energy Issues a Global Report Card

April 15, 2009 – Comments (1) | RELATED TICKERS: BTU , PKX , JOY

Like Joy Global, Peabody Energy can always be counted upon to issue a terrific breakdown of global industrial activity as it relates to the coal markets and the broader commodities space. I recommend Peabody's quarterly earnings reports as another key source of data and analysis to help Fools invest effectively through this ongoing disruption of global industrial activity. Like POSCO's release over the weekend, Peabody offers more evidence that decoupling indeed is beinning to take shape, particularly in China and India.   [more]

What they consider strong, I consider weak

April 14, 2009 – Comments (7)

In a perfect example of how even the more "bullish" analysts fail to grasp the big picture in looming price-drivers for precious metals, this investment bank considers a silver price forecast of $15.85 in 2010 quite high, and probably expects us all to hail the arrival of sufficiently bullish calls. Not by a long shot... when gold experiences it's big run through the $1,650 level and onto $2,000 over the coming couple of years, silver will briskly reclaim its prior high above $20 and make its way towards $50 per ounce. I have been targeting $50 per ounce for silver since I first started investing in precious metals back in 2003/2004, evidenced later by my early pitches here in CAPS starting in 2006. Nothing has changed, except that macroeconomic developments have transpired more quickly and in a grander scale than I could have imagined, which will more than make up for the reduced global industrial demand implied by the severity of this stagflationary depression.  [more]

China is Heating Up!

April 13, 2009 – Comments (9)

The evidence that China will lead the world out of this commodity demand slump continues to pile up convincingly, and POSCO's ability to remain profitable while cutting far less production than its global counterparts is a primary indication that related regional economies like South Korea will feel a major bump from China's relative strength.  [more]

Thank you so much for reading, for sharing your thoughts here, and for voting in the poll at the bottom of the article.
