Woes of underperform calls

November 12, 2008 – Comments (2) | RELATED TICKERS: WRSPQ.PK

As much attention as the "red thumb" strategy garnered during the stock run-up, it isn't working quite as well during this downturn.

I just rode a stock to pretty much zero. From nearly 5 dollars down to 4 cents per share, more than a 99% drop. But, since the market went down over 40% in that same timeframe, I only get 50 points out of it.

I just hope the market as a whole recovers some before this stock gets closed out against my will.

Scariest stocks, sign up people!

October 07, 2008 – Comments (0)

If you haven't signed up for the scariest stocks contest yet, you should do so. It costs nothing to enter, and you've got a chance to win hundreds of dollars!

Besides, I'm in second place, and I want a larger prize pool for when I win it all. ;)

The bailout bill is rising from the dead, in a new twisted form, which includes tax cuts. When running a deficit, and with a large amount of debt, it really makes little sense to increase spending by a large amount while at the same time cutting taxes.   [more]

Blood in the streets

September 29, 2008 – Comments (0) | RELATED TICKERS: MCD , PG , BAC

There's an old saying, "Buy when there's blood in the streets." Well, I think today certainly qualifies. Know what this means? There are some amazing buying opportunities to be had in the next few days to few weeks. Many stocks were hammered today that have little to do with the financial system crisis. McDonalds was down 5%, for example. Are people going to stop going to McDonalds? Really?  [more]
