I've got to believe that there is a market somewhere amidst all of this talk of recession.  If anything there has got to be buying opportunities as we see solid companies also affected by the recent downturn.  About a year ago you could throw a dart at the financial page of the news paper and watch whatever stock your dart hit grow.  Now you have to carefully evaluate prospective companies.  But isn't this how you should invest anyway?  I think that it's clear from all of this that not all industries and sectors are equal.  The banks are in real trouble and what has been the solution?... Lower interest rates making it easier for these banks to lend money!  That industry is doomed.  Economies can not run on low interest rates.  It's almost an oxymoron.  I hope that the government does not intervene in this economy further.  We are at this point is thanks to reckless management of almost all companies within a few industries and the equally reckless financial habits of a large portion of consumers.  There is a lesson to be learned here.  The market needs to be pruned and consumers need to practice sound financial activity.  What's so bad about that?  [more]
