STOCKMARKETDOUBLE DIARY 30, 2013

June 30, 2013 – Comments (0) | RELATED TICKERS: SUNE , UNXL , RDN

On Friday SUNE went up 2 cents to $8.17. In the last 2 trading days the stock has moved or not moved, from $8.15 to $8.17.  It's probablly no coincidence, the DOW has ended up flat also for those 2 days.  My gut feeling tells me that SUNE has run out of gas and doesn't have a whole lot of upside, at this point.  Generally speaking I think, that if the market goes higher, that the % increase in SUNE would match or be less than any increase of the index.  [more]

My website is down because I am changing web hosts, but I want to make sure I record the day's change in my portfolio. Lucky for me there was no change. SUNE closed flat at $8.15. So, please refer to yesterday's diary entry for my account value and performance.

STOCKMARKETDOUBLE DIARY JUNE 26, 2013

June 26, 2013 – Comments (0) | RELATED TICKERS: RDN , UNXL , SUNE

Another trading day has come and gone and I still hold the same position, short 1622 shares of SUNE.  I was down about 2%.

I guess if I had to put into broad terms the kind of trader I am-you could say that I am a swing trader. Maybe the one thing that I do differently than a lot of other swing traders is that I take fundamentals into account, just as much the technicals.

During the "swing period", there are almost always up and down days.  As I think about it a little more-I guess I could call myself a "long term" swing trader; in that I will hold a position longer than most. Well, hopefully tomorrow things will go my way and SUNE will be down, rather than up.  Until tomorrow, I hope you all have a nice evening. See the results of all  my trades below:

STOCKMARKETDOUBLE DIARY JUNE 25, 2013

June 25, 2013 – Comments (1) | RELATED TICKERS: UNXL , SUNE , RDN

Just a quick reminder, everyday I post this diary on Motley Caps because on that site, once you post a blog, you can not edit it. I say this so that everyone knows that I cant go back and change the numbers to make my self look good.

Here's today's update-GOT WHACKED! The position I am holding SUNE was up more than 6% today, which obviously means I am short. Nonetheless, as I have said many times before, I am not a day trader. Let us see what tomorrow brings; in my attempt to double the account in less than one year.  See the results below:

STOCKMARKETDOUBLE DAIRY JUNE 24, 2013

June 24, 2013 – Comments (0) | RELATED TICKERS: SUNE , UNXL , RDN

I put this up everyday on Motley Caps because once its up, you cant go back and edit. So, it serves as an accurate account of all the trades-up 59% in 54 trading days. Only 3 positions have been taken during this time
Today was another great day for the Stockmarketdouble account. SUNE was down another 4.2% to $7.52. The timing for me could not be better to be short in this market. Today, the DOW was down more than 200 points at one point before it bounced back, but still we ended down almost 140 points, no matter how you look at it, it wasn't pretty.

At one point, Sunedison (SUNE) was down nearly 8%.  I have to admit, at that moment, I felt a strong urge to cover, but I did not.  Although, had I covered when I felt that urge, it would have been a nice profit since I opened the short position at $8.45 and it had gone down to $7.27 at that point.

The point being is that, it is important for me to stick my plan because if I start to break my own rules, than there are no rules.

STOCKMARKETDOUBLE DIARY JUNE 20, 2013

June 20, 2013 – Comments (0) | RELATED TICKERS: SUNE , UNXL , RDN

Fortunate to be short today. As I had mentioned when I initiated this position, I felt more comfortable being short in this market then long  http://www.stockmarketdouble.com/2013/06/stockmarketdouble-diary.html

Nonetheless, as for today's update, the stock I am short Sunedison (SUNE), was down nearly 5% today, going from $8.49 to $8.07. The account is now up a remarkable 43.5% since April 18. (I had to check the math twice to make sure).

Something I didn't expect from this result-is that I feel a bit anxious about having a 44% gain in 2 months and 2 days. If you've been around the markets for as long as I have (25 years)-you know these streaks don't last forever. However, I am steadfast on the shorting of SUNE. The stock price had quadrupled in the last 52 weeks and frankly was  due for a pullback regardless of what the market itself was going to do. Anyway, until tomorrow-have a good evening. See all the trades below leading up to this point.

Well, it was all about the Fed today.  The Market took a dive after they didn't really address the issue of quantitative easing. Correspondingly, Sunedison, the stock that I am short went down to $8.49 (about 2.5%), 4 cents from where I opened the short position ($8.45).  [more]

NETFLIX ALWAYS A STEP AHEAD

June 18, 2013 – Comments (0) | RELATED TICKERS: NFLX , GOOGL , AMZN

You have to admire how the management team at Netflix (NFLX) is always finding ways to get better.  Reed Hastings and company are quite a pro-active group, constantly finding ways to provide more value for their customers, unlike many of the cable companies who up until recently treated their customers like they were unworthy of their attention.  Specifically, I am talking about Time Warner Cable in New York City.  As millions can testify, it wasn't unusual to be put on hold for up to 40 minutes when you needed assistance.  It was only when they started to fear losing business to Netflix or Verizon's FIOS, that they started to act like they gave a damn.
Reed Hastings CEO of Netflix Time Warner has now become the media company that chases the tails of Verizon and Netflix. Verizon and companies such as Netflix are leapfrogging the cable companies with more exclusive content and better delivery technology (FIOS). If you think about that last statement, what else is their besides content and delivery?

Don't think for a moment that Time Warner doesn't know this-why else would they offer you a $200 gift card to sign up?

CSIQ PRICE TARGET RAISED FROM $6.90 to $25

June 17, 2013 – Comments (0) | RELATED TICKERS: CSIQ , YGE , STPFQ

Contributed by Stockmarketdouble.com

Did you catch this little news article from Barron's this morning? As usual...I was skimming through the article, as I do with most, until I got to the last sentence of the article. (see at the bottom of this page) That's when I went back and re-read the section that said Nomura analysts Nitin Kumar and Ragvendra Divekar had raised their price target on Canadian Solar (CSIQ) from $6.90 to $25!  I can't remember the last time I had seen a price target raised so dramatically.

Barron's Article:
Yingli Green Energy (YGE) has surged 12.2% to $3.22, Canadian Solar (CSIQ) has spiked 11.6% to $10.49, and Trina Solar (TSL) has jumped 7.4% to $6.37. Even the two most beaten down names have rallied: Suntech Power (STP), which if anyone has forgotten filed for bankruptcy, has gained 6.1% to $1.02, while LDK Solar (LDK), which missed a bond payment, has gone up 8.8% to $1.48.
Yingli appears to be gaining on news that it has agreed to supply solar installations for a project in China’s Yunnan province. Bloomberg News, meanwhile, says that China will make it easier for its solar companies to get financing, among other steps to boost the industry.  [more]

A STOCK MARKET DOUBLE

June 13, 2013 – Comments (0) | RELATED TICKERS: UNXL , RDN

Yesterday I began a journal to record my attempt to double $10,000 in the stock market in less than one year. The first trade was on April 18, 2013. Shorted Unxl-that one seemed too easy, unfortunately I covered after a gain of 28%. Hell, had I held on, I'd be up around 60%. Here's a link to yesterday's post if you missed it.  [more]
