Interesting article on UnitedHealth (UNH) in the WSJ yesterday (subscription required). The gist of the article is that after signing up Lab Corp (LH) as its new lab of choice, UnitedHealth has been trying to strong-arm doctors into using only Lab Corp's labs. While it's to be expected that they want to make the most of that relationship/contract, they seem to be overstepping their bounds a bit and are trying to fine doctors who are referring patients to out-of-network labs. I was just reading through the "Dash of Insight" blog which I hadn't been to before. Pretty enjoyable blog. In one of the recent posts it talks about Doug Kass and mentions that he considers himself one of the few bears left. [more]
There's part of me that just wants to ignore the whole issue of the credit markets. At this point the unraveling, should it happen, is theoretical and frankly thinking about it makes my head hurt. [more]
