Utilities you say?

November 25, 2009 – Comments (0) | RELATED TICKERS: VZ

I've found myself doing a lot of nodding when I read Bill Gross' investment commentaries/outlooks. That's why I found it particularly interesting when he was hyping utilities in his most recent commentary.  [more]

The woes of moral hazard

November 24, 2009 – Comments (0)

I won't deny it, I was among those that was in support of bailing out the banks. From a pure cost perspective, it looked like a much cheaper option than letting failures of massive financial institutions wreak havoc on our economy. And it worked. Sort of.   [more]

Morgan Housel and I do a lot of coverage on the finance and banking world for Fool.com. And these days you can really only do that so long before getting frustrated and wanting to take matters into your own hands. Well, we've decided to do just that.  [more]

Our poor economy....

November 18, 2009 – Comments (3) | RELATED TICKERS: GS

If CNBC is good for anything...

November 17, 2009 – Comments (3)

Can we flush CDS contracts already?

November 12, 2009 – Comments (5)

Oh Goldman, what should we do with you?

November 12, 2009 – Comments (2) | RELATED TICKERS: GS

I have this crazy love/hate relationship with Goldman Sachs. I'm totally in awe of the amount of money the company makes, but I'm definitely unnerved by the fact that so much of what they do is hidden from the eye of shareholders -- and everyone else for that matter.  [more]

The stupid market rally

November 10, 2009 – Comments (2)

That's right folks, I'm calling this a stupid market rally. We've got all the right ingredients to make it stupid: hope, high valuations, government spending... you name it.   [more]

What to do with all that cash???

November 06, 2009 – Comments (1) | RELATED TICKERS: BRK-A , BRK-B , BNI.DL

The downturn inspired a lot of companies to build up big cash hoards. Now that times are looking at least somewhat better, it's high time to ask what exactly they're going to do with all of that moolah.  [more]

As easy as it is to take pot shots at the economy...

November 03, 2009 – Comments (2)

There are plenty of places that we can point to if we want to try and prove that the economy is still struggling. Debt? Check. Unemployment? Check.   [more]
