First full year of real money returns from the anticitrade model with transaction costs.

March 27, 2010 – Comments (31)

This is a graph I intended to put out a long time ago, but just got around too.  Basically it shows my real money returns using my own model for the last year.  I have included my transaction costs (starting out at 20$ per trade ouch!  especially when you initial investment was only $4,000).  I will probably post some more details about current vs past beta values, and maybe try to break the chart up into a few different sections...  [more]

America is something something and the market is blah blah blah.

March 24, 2010 – Comments (9)

It seems you can hardly throw a rock in America today without hitting someone who is either murmuring about the problems of our government, or complaining that the market is moving in the wrong direction (and believe me, I throw a lot of rocks).  While summing up all this negativity and whining may create a powerful force for evil on the Care Bears ®, it actually has very little true power or value in the real world.  Then assuming you are as smart as you think you are, a stretch in most cases, how should you react if not by whining on public forums?  [more]

Evaluation of my original 200 short positions (anticitradshort portfolio) & interesting charts.

March 10, 2010 – Comments (14)

So I am once again spending a lot of my "back burner" intelligence thinking about shorts...  I am focusing on what went wrong in my previous attempts to automate this process and developed a pretty interesting graph...  [more]

Evaluation of the top 100 recommendations made by the anticitrade model on March 31st of last year.

March 07, 2010 – Comments (10)

The combination of reaching a year or results and my involvement with the tigerpack matual fund experiement has caused me to spend some time evaluating my models ability to pick stocks.  Because several users of Motley Fool are familiar with my service, I thought I would publish some of this information here that I thought was particularly interesting.    [more]

This pioneer is an earnings beater. (1 year of Exceptional Results)

March 04, 2010 – Comments (8) | RELATED TICKERS: CRTX , MIDD , TRLG

I have long believed that the best opportunities in the market come from the stocks that do not have a close following.  Because they are not closely followed they can become irrationally undervalued, and deliver high returns when earnings are released.  Because these stocks lack the scrutiny that others may, it is important that your timing is right (otherwise they can sneak up behind you and punch you in the head).    [more]

StockTwits? Opinions?

March 01, 2010 – Comments (3)

Yall,

Just finished setting up an account on stocktwits.com (handle is "anticitrade").  Anyone use this site?

Although it will never have detailed information on any stocks, it seems like it may be a good way to keep up on the current news for stocks in your portfolio.

What do you think?
