October 27, 2007 –
Here are my seven largest real life holdings in order with largest first: PCU, BPT, ATW, BHP, ANW, DE, GLYT. My biggest regret is selling some (but not all) of my Garmin on October 22nd because of the clouded outlook caused by the byout of NVT. I kept half of my stock because I still think that it is more likely to go up than down from here. So far that has proved to be the case. [more]

Stocks are taking another dive today. Overall, however, recent action has been more notable for volatility than secular direction, the latter seemingly downward. As I said in my last post, it is a good time to keep some cans on hand to snap up bargains when they occur. [more]

The sharp reversal in direction at the end of the session Oct 11 makes me very nervous. The "conventional wisdom" is that it was the result of a public statement made in Europe, but The reaction seems to great to be too great for that explanation. It seems to me more like a case of the straw that broke the camel's back. Could this market be overbought? Is it the beginning of a classic "October massacre"?
