I'm a stamp collector (and president of the local stamp club) and the first thing people ask when the find out I am a collector is about investing in stamps. My stock answer is that they are a terrible investment and collecting stamps is just like putting the money in a pile on the driveway and setting it on fire, but more fun. [more]

Because I won't defraud myself. I was reading the Wikipedia article on Harry Nilsson and it mentioned that his later life was plagued by money problems caused by having his entire fortune embezzeled by a crooked manager. Another rock star who lost it all due to a bad money manager was Billy Joel. An old friend (who is a pretty savvy guy) lost about 20% of his net worth to a crooked investment manager. [more]
