I agree: taxing gas/carbon makes way too much sense, in a lot of different ways. So much sense, that the USA will never even consider discussing it. Sad.

Alright, I'm going to say something downright unAmerican - I really really really really really hate UNH. And WLP. And AET. And just about every other major health insurance company out there. They all suck. A lot. I've been denied a couple of times for routine, low-cost things. I can't imagine having, say, cancer or something else that actually requires long-tem care.   [more]

I found in the mail today a magazine-looking thing addressed to my Mom (who is NOT stock-savvy, mind you) from a group called "Global Investor Watch" with a bold proclamation on the front cover: "Discover a stock that can rise 2000% or more!" The company being advertised is called Yasheng Eco-Trade Corporation, with an over-the-counter ticker of YASH. It currently sells for $0.395 per share, making it a sketchy penny stock.  [more]
