So, my CAPS ranking has tanked from the mid 80's to the low 20's and has done so in grand fashion; arguably faster than Corey Feldman's acting career. However, my real money portfolio is actually doing quite well. Aside from what some have claimed to be a flawed CAPS scoring system (which I do not subscribe to), there are some nice tools that one has access to in real life that is not possible with CAPS. One of those tools I like to use is an options collar.
For those of you unfamiliar with options, I recommend checking out the OPTIONS information provided by the investing wiki (a great source of information covering a vast array of investment lingo). [more]

I loathe Jim Cramer. That statement alone should get me a few +1's (and why not pander to the Foolish audience?). That being said, he does offer some good advice, just like Michael Vick might make see the endzone once or twice this year. The little nugget of gold that spewed so energentically, neigh, frantically out of the little bald man's pie hole is this: "Look for broken stocks, not broken companies." Egads, I did it. So, being the responsibly diversified investor that my pappy taught me to be, I have some money in an REIT. Great news for me considering the recent run up in the REIT sector. I own 500 shares of HRP that I purchased at $4.42/share. Their dividend is decent, but I'm kind of sketched about their portfolio of commercial real estate. [more]

RELATED TICKERS: GNBT
All you biotech spec buffs probably know about GNBT. They are currently at an interesting and pivotal crossroads in their development as a company. They WERE a pure R&D firm, researching and developing a platform to deliver drugs orally. Its technical and I don't even really understand the science behind it. But they have crossed over and are ready to start growing sales. They have so much potential, that even Joseph Rubinfeld (co-founder of Amgen) has signed on to be their chief scientific advisor. Dr. Rubinfeld has a highly distinguished and storied carrer in his field and should be a hugh asset to GNBT in helping to develop their market strategy. Read the article here. [more]
