"May you live in interesting times." [more]
I headed back into the rabbit hole this week, pouring though articles, documents and charts to try to figure out what is really going on in the markets and economy. The deeper I got, the more questions I had. [more]
While I am at heart an Austrian economist, both by blood and book, I can't help but completely agree with Paul Krugman regarding current economic and political times. If the gov'ment does not spend to stabilize the economy and also to create jobs, then the ship is lost. Pols, pundits and bloggers who lambast federal deficits right now are idiots, very unworthy of being called fools. [more]
Like Ron Wolf's famous statement (at least in Wisconsin) about the mid 1990s Green Bay Packers only winning one Superbowl, this market rally, which appears to be losing breath, is about to become a fart in the wind. More importantly, the United States as a whole, is facing the same problem. [more]
I don't have time to tear the numbers apart, however, I'm sure Mauldin one of his guys will, so take a look at his site: http://investorsinsight.com/ [more]
As people put their 401k and IRA money to work for the next month or two, it is clear that the professionals are selling into that short term strength. Also, clear to me is that this has been going on for awhile, not in relation to IRA and 401k money, but as people felt they missed the run up, they got into the rebound rally late by buying from the professionals then too. Bush and Cheney were the shepherds I did not want.
They leadeth me beside the still American factories which were outsourced to support their friends executive bonus plans.
They destroyeth my faith in the Republican party.
They guideth me in the path of unemployment for their party's owners, the Chinese and their golf buddy banker's gain.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the bread line,
I shall fear no hunger, for their bailout of bankers with no limits on bonuses will be with me for 30 years of treasury bond repayments,
though we hope for some loose change out of it.
They have anointed my income with taxes (because I don't qualify for the lower capital gains rates on excess profits),
my standard of living runneth down due to lower wages and coming inflation.
Surely, poverty and hard living will follow me all the days of my life,
as they eschewed alternative and nuclear energy in favor of oil barons and their wives,
But at least, I will live in a mortgaged home that is underwater forever,
that is if the bank will let me keep it, and even if that puts me in deeper $h!t.
I am glad I am American,
I am glad that I am free, though the unPatriotic Act put a dent in that from sea to shining sea.
Oh, how I wish I that Bush and Cheney had never represented me. [more]
